PresentationSince childhood connected to activities related to the sea, the marine world has always fascinated me and for that Jacques-Yves Cousteau contributed greatly with the award-winning documentary "The Silent World." In 2000 I decided to take my first diving course, The PADI "Open Water Diver" with my friend João Fiuza and soon I became even more passionate by the world of diving. Both connected to the world of new technologies and with diving as an activity of strong interest, we decided to start in 2006 the development of a small dive site in Portugal to gather some information that we considered important. Parallel to the development of the project Skaphandrus, i continue my work as a Certificate consultant in Java by the Sun Microsystems in J2SE, J2ME and J2EE, operating also within systems integration (EAI) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), having also writing a book published in Portuguese from FCA Aplicações Móveis with J2ME.

UserJoão Pedro silva From Portugal
PresentationIn spite of being an IT professional, Joao Pedro Silva has kept an interest on biology since an early age. By his 16th birthday he received his first SLR camera and has photographed wildlife ever since, especially the smaller and more cryptic animals. By 2000, some of his friend divers encouraged him to start photographing underwater and this has turned into a serious addiction. It was then that he found his first nudibranch, a Flabellina babai, an animal so beautiful as intriguing that he decided to know a bit more about these animals. Most of his dives are now oriented towards finding and documenting nudibranchs (and other opistobranchs), aswell as trying to provide more information to other fellow divers. More recently he has also presented lectures on the Portuguese nudibranch species and has helped on the identification of some of the species presented on the most recent underwater marine life field guide for continental Portugal (“Guia de Espécies Submarinas: Portugal – Berlengas”, Nuno Vasco Rodrigues, Paulo Maranhão, Pedro Oliveira, José Alberto). Has also contributed with photos of some of the species in the book "Des Limaces de Reve", by Sandrine Bielecki, Gilles Cavignaux, Jean Michel Crouzet and Sylvie Grall, an opistobranch species guide for the Mediterranean. He’s also maintaining a blog on Portuguese opistobranchs: http://hypselodoris.blogspot.com

UserRui Guerra From Portugal
PresentationHigh Competition Athlete, Vice World Champion of Underwater Photography, World Champion in the category Wide Angle with Diver and National Hexa-Champion, Rui Guerra was born in Lisbon in December 1968 and since an early age he was connected to the sea, being near the sea where he seeks balance and inner peace. The photography appears in his life almost by accident, not passing at the beginning than "showing the others what he sees underwater." Continuing a constant evolution at all levels and deepening his knowledges, he was expanding its photographic horizons to other worlds, always keeping, as the center of its activity, underwater photography. Along his career, both at a leisure or competitive level, in national and international competitions, has consistently managed to achieve a position of prominence, while fostering simultaneously the formation and the divulgation of underwater photography in Portugal, giving regular courses, workshops and organizing events. Meantime he has became an CMAS ** Underwater Photography Instructor. Rui Guerra is represented by Ocean-Photos Agency. (http://www.ocean-photos.com/)
