| Description: | Nuweiba is situated around 70km north of Dahab, and its palm-fringed beaches nestle magnificently between the deep blue of the Gulf of Aqaba and the mountains of the Sinai. Nuweiba is a quiet getaway with some fantastic shore diving that makes it a great choice for novice divers and underwater photography fans. Nuweiba is also superb for snorkellers with the spectacular marine life of house reefs just a few fin kicks from the shore. Nuweiba is an ideal resort for learning to dive with its beautiful coral gardens accessible from the shore. Divers are sure to be completely absorbed by the plentiful reef fish including razorfish, puffers, shrimps and alien-looking Pegasus fish. One house reef is even home to more than 20 lionfish! In Nuweiba you can share your first dives with an amazing variety of marine life. The prolific marine life and the easily accessible shore diving make Nuweiba an underwater photographer?s paradise. The beautiful dive sites, reached by jeep and camel, and the house reefs promise some spectacular scenery with amazing multicoloured nudibranch, several species of seahorse, stonefish, frogfish and many more. Sinker is one of the most attractive dive sites and particularly exceptional for photography. A large submerged mooring buoy has turned into a fantastic artificial reef with a proliferation of soft corals decorating the length of the mooring chain. Dense packs of glassfish and anthias swirl through the blue and make this a mesmerising dive. The reefs of the Abu Galum National Park are a highlight of a week?s diving in Nuweiba. In particular, Ras Mumlach is situated around 75 minutes drive away and offers a beautiful coral garden with fantastic table corals and a steep wall that bottoms out at 70m plus. The variety of marine life is outstanding with many barracuda, groupers, angelfish, butterflyfish, moray eels and even turtles. Ras Shetan or Devils Head is a well-known site north of Nuweiba situated at a Bedouin camp. Its highlight is some incredible underwater topography with snaking valleys and basins, beautiful soft corals, seagrass and a superb lagoon. |
