| Description: | Protected from the winds, by its islets and its own island rounding, Porto Santo offers excellent conditions, fulled with life and emotion to the plunging during the whole year. For many years, the translucent waters of Porto Santo are searched by the plunge lovers, not only by its limpidity, its blue colour and temperature, but also by the enormous beauty that these marine depths have to offer. The most searched place by the plunge lovers is, with no doubts, the ancient shipwreck "Madeirense", which used to realize the cross between the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo for several decades and which was on porpose submersed in order to do the plunge at 21st October of 2000, with a maximum profoundness of 34 meters, on the south zone of the harbour refuge. 7 years passed and this reef still has great praises by part of the divers that pass through that zone and sometimes we hear to say that this is a plunge with great possibilities to become a worldwide plunge. Ilhéu de Cima caves, Canhões, Cemitério das Ancoras, Baixa "Max" and Baixa das Bicudas, with depths around 16 and 32 meters, are other interesting places for the divers, on which lie some cannons and anchors, and where we can observe several marine species which the translucent waters offer to the divers, like long-beaked fishes, black groupers, rays, tunny and morays. From 65 meters deep, approximately, the deep rocks present themselves covered by algae, black choral, soft choral and several colourated anemone. |

| How to get there: | You can get to Porto Santo by sea or by air. The island of Madeira to Porto Santo takes 15 minutes by plane and 2 hours by boat. The European continent by airplane takes 1 hour. |

| Other Activities: | On the island of Porto Santo is a number of activities beyond the dive. Tourists can visit the beautiful scenery by hiking, enjoy the golf course or else the Tennis, water sports (Windsurfing and Kitesurfing, Jet skiing and water skiing, etc.), land sports (riding, cycling, motorcycling, jeep safari, etc.). At night there are many bars and clubs open until dawn. |
