| Description: | The Sao Tome Island is the largest island of the archipelago of Sao Tome and Principe, which consists of two islands, both belonging to the Cameroon volcanic line. The capital is São Tome with an estimated population in 2004 of 133,600 inhabitants of the national total of 139,000 and an area of 859 km ². Its origin and location offer crystal clear warm waters and underwater terrain relief rich in flora and fauna endemic. The coast north and northeast of the island offers the best conditions because of the existence of coral reefs and are places of great interest to observers and researchers of the seabed. |
