| Description: | Aliwal Shoal is a rocky reef that consists in the remains of an ancient sand dune, located five kilometers off the coast of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. It was named Aliwal Shoal in honor of the three-masted ship called Aliwal that sank in this reef in 1849, passing it his name. In this location divers will have a large number of sites at their disposal, most of which consisting of caves, shipwrecks, rocky pinnacles and areas of marine life observation. The depths vary between 14 and 32 meters, covering various levels of diving. |

| How to get there: | The fastest and most comfortable way to travel to Aliwal Shoal is the airplane. You'll have to take off from United Kingdom to Johannesburg and transfer to Durban. On arrival you will have to go on a 40 minute car trip to the tiny coastal town of Umkommas, where you will then be guided by a dive center to Aliwal Shoal. |

| Other Activities: | Since Aliwal Shoal is a reef that's exclusively dedicated to diving activities, you'll need to move to the city of Umkommas to enjoy other ocupations such as walking tours in the Empisini Natural Reserve, watch crocodiles being fed in the Croc park breeding farm, golf in the Umkommas golf course, visit the famous Scottburgh beach, observe animals in their natural habitat in Tala Game Reserve, go horseback riding and observe lions in the Umkommas Lion Park. |
