| Name: | Arcos da Caloura |

| Description: | It is placed on the south coast of São Miguel, at about 300 meters away from the coast, in front of the Resort-Hotel from Caloura. It's a zone formed by lava flows with several arches, galleries and caves. It's a zone with low current. You can observe arches and a big dimensioned cave with four entries. The deep is formed by great sandy areas, rocky blocks and rolling stones of small and medium dimensions. The cave is large but not very high. All the zone is constituted by halls and arches. |
| Fauna and Flora: | Above the sand there are flounders and blunthead puffer; above the rocks there are rainbow wrasse, salemas, seabreams, black and yellow dam-selfish, parrot-fish and blacktail comber. In the cave there are two shoals of different species. Black groupers and nudibranch of several species. In the cracks there are black morays and other species and above there are too shoals of long-beaked fishes and lilys. |
