Name: Aorangi
Description: Here is a blockship of 4268 tons that once obstructed the channel in Kirk Sound. In 1920 this steamship was lifted and re-sunk off the island of Kirk Holm currently providing an interesting surface dive site. Its boilers remain in good condition and the bow section is recognizable and it is interesting to swim through what remains of the hull. The Aorangi is in deep and clear waters providing an excellent second dive site at the east coast of Orkney.
Diving Types: Sightseeing Wreck Dive
Maximum depth: 14 m
Water Temperature: Water temperature ranges from about -8ºC in winter to 13ºC in summer.
Diving Suit: Dry suit.
Visibility under water: It has an average depth between 30 and 50 meters, making it an easy access for divers although the visibility of the waters are reduced.
When to go: June   July   August   September
