Marine Species Identification Cards
- Species Identification Cards generation service is a free service, as long as you are a registered user.
- The main goal of this service is to ease the identification of the species, by crossreferencing the species database of Skaphandrus with the photographs uploaded by our users.
- The process of generating these Identification Cards is totally customizable by our users, where they can define different criteria (explained below) for Cards generation.
- You can generate the species Identification Cards by uploading and using your own photos.
Species in Identification Cards can be selected according to Taxonomy and Geographic Location criteria. Both of them can interwine when a user chooses a specific Taxon photographed in a specific Geographic Location.
- The available Taxonomy Criteria are: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family and Genus;
- The available Geographic Criteria are: Country, Location and Dive Site (where these species where photographed).
The Photos in the Identification Cards are those uploaded and authorized for this purpose by registered users of Skaphandrus. They are selected according to the following criteria:
- Skaphandrus Team: the biologists in our team often select one of the uploaded photos that best represents a species. When none is selected, the photo with the most views is chosen;
- User: if this option is activated, then chosen photos are only from those the user has uploaded.
