Common Name: Atlantic sturgeon
Description: Long fish, with fins similar to sharks. Double row of pre-anal plates. The bony plates are oval. The head and dorsum are bluish-black and the lower surface is whitish. The snout is elongated forming a V shape. It has two pairs of slender barbels between the anterior margin of the mouth and the tip of the snout. They amount to coastal rivers in order to mate.
Habitat: Demersal, inhabiting depths up to 46 meters.
Color: Bluish black and whitish.
Dimensions: Up to 430 centimeters in lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Western Atlantic
