Common Name: Brown Tube Sponge
Description: Soft-walled tubes grow in cloisters joined at the base however they may occasionally form shapes (moose antlers, octopus arms and trompets). Surface texture tends to be smooth compared to other similar sponges (Ectyoplasia ferox).
Habitat: Reefs and walls especially in more protected areas. Parazoanthus swiftii e Parazoanthus puertoricense may grow in it's surface.
Color: Brown to brownish gray in the surface with yellow color in the interior and base.
Dimensions: Between just a few millimeters to 30cm long and 2.5 to 25cm diameter. It has three sorts of oscules: circular between 5 mm to 5 cm in diameter; elongate 2-3 mm wide and up to 3 cm long; small, circular crowded vents, about 1 mm wide and 1-3 mm apart.
