Common Name: African pompano
Description: This fish has a deeply forked tail fin and a narrow caudal peduncle with a row of external plaques. The dorsal fin is deeply toothed and both the spiny part and the soft part are separated. The body is silver with a metallic blue tint on the dorsum. It has a small and diffuse dark spot on the operculum. It feeds on sedentary or slow-moving crustaceans and occasionally, on small crabs and fish.
Habitat: Associated with reefs, at depths between 60 and 100 meters.
Color: Silver with a metallic blue tint on the dorsum.
Dimensions: Up to 150 centimeters in total lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Indian Ocean Eastern Pacific Western Atlantic Eastern Atlantic
