Common Name: American shad
Description: Silver fish with green or bluish dorsum. It has a black dot behind the opercular opening, usually with one or two series of smaller dots behind it. It feeds on plankton, mainly copepods and mysids, and occasionally on small fish.
Habitat: Neritic pelagic, at depths between 0 and 250 meters.
Color: Silver fish with green or bluish dorsum.
Dimensions: Up to 76 centimeters in lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Northwest Atlantic
