| Description: | The dorsal fin is composed of two dorsal spines and 36-41 soft rays, the anal fin has 39-44 soft rays. The first dorsal spine is long. It has small scales covered by small denticles that give the skin a rough texture. The gill slit is oblique (about 45º from the axis of the body). The upper profile of the snout is concave. They feed on sponges, hydroids, soft-bodied invertebrates. |
