Common Name: New Guinea Tamarin Wrasse, Blackbacked Wrasse
Description: Females black colored in the back, with blue patches, turning yellowish-white in the flanks and white in the venter. Operculum with a large black ocellus. Anal fin with a wide black band. Males with their backs in a dark shade and with dark blue dots, each scale of the body have a vertical blue line. The top half of the head is dark red.
Habitat: Front slopes of reefs and outer crests of reefs at depths between 4 and 25 meters.
Color: Brown back and white venter.
Dimensions: Up to 15 centimeters.
