Common Name: Spotted wolffish
Description: This fish is large, long and robust. It does not have pelvic fins. The dorsal fin originates just behind the head being relatively high, with flexible spines. It is light olive green to dark brown, with many black spots on the sides of the head, body, dorsal and caudal fins. The head is large and the snout is robust. It feeds primarily on echinoderms, but it also ingests crustaceans, mollusks, fish and worms.
Habitat: It inhabits waters off the shore over soft bottoms, usually with stones. It occurs at depths between 25 and 600 meters.
Color: Light olive green to dark brown.
Dimensions: Up to 180 centimeters in total lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Northwest Atlantic Northeast Atlantic
