Common Name: Big-eye anchovy
Description: Slightly compressed body. Pointed snout, large eye, snout shorter than the diameter of the eye. It has a silver band along the flank, wider than the length of the snout, especially near the tail. The dorsum is gray and the top of the head is iridescent. It feeds on zooplankton.
Habitat: Neritic pelagic, at depths between 0 and 50 meters.
Color: Silver with gray dorsum.
Dimensions: Up to 12 centimeters in lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Western Central Atlantic
