Common Name: Poey's anchovy
Description: Long, very compressed body, and short maxillas. It has a silver band on the body wider above the anal fin, ending in a dark band at the base of the tail fin. The body is light with a few melanophores on the upper part, and it also has a row of melanophores along the base of the anal fin. There is a pair of blue specks at the top of the head. behind the eyes. The top of the head has green and gold reflections. The dorsal fin originates at a point above the area in front of the anal fin.
Habitat: Neritic pelagic, at depths between 0 and 50 meters.
Dimensions: Up to 11 centimeters.
