Common Name: Xantic sargo
Description: Small mouth. Long, toothed dorsal fin with 11 to 12 spines and 14-16 soft rays.
Habitat: Appears in coastal waters, often on rocky reefs and occasionally on sandy bottoms, often in beds in kelps. Lives up to 40 feet deep.
Color: The back is gray, mostly silver body, except for a dark bar on the sides and a dark mesh at the base of pectoral fin. Opercle with dark edges.
Dimensions: Up to 58 inches in total lenght.
