Common Name: Slender cockscomb
Description: Fish with 57-64 thorns on dorsal and 40 to 46 soft rays in anal fin. Fleshy crest on top of head. Does not have pelvic fins. Dorsal fin well carved but joined to the caudal,the pectoral fin is rounded and pointed.
Habitat: This fish prefers subtidal areas among rocks and algae to depths of 30 meters.
Color: The color is variable: this fish is usually dark brown or black with dark and light knits, sometimes red. It usually presents clear and dark bars on sides and saddle-shaped blotches on its back.
Dimensions: Up to 12 inches in total length.
