Common Name: Roughbar frogfish
Description: Dorsal fin consisting of 3 spines and 12-14 soft rays; anal fin with 8-9 soft rays. Grotesque fish globe-shaped with spiny skin. It has a small arm-shaped opercular opening behind the pectoral fin. The pelvic fin is small. It has a fleshy bait between the eyes, used to attract prey.
Habitat: Adults inhabit rocky areas, including the intertidal zone. It occurs at depths between 0 and 300 meters.
Color: The color varies from brown to gray, or orange, lemon, red or black, usually with darker spots. It has dark lines radiating from the pupil.
Dimensions: Up to 33 centimeters in total lenght.
