Common Name: Commerson's frogfish
Description: Shaped-globular fish with modified pectoral fins resembling complete legs with "feet". Bony plates do not cover the small whitish openings, and the first dorsal spine is important to attract prey, which it feeds. This spine, called "illicium" is long. It has 8 anal rays, 13 dorsal rays and 11 pectoral rays.
Habitat: It lives in coastal reefs, in frontal slopes of reefs, lagoons, wrecks, etc.. Occurs at depths between 1 and 50 meters.
Color: It has white, yellow, brown, green, red, orange, pink and black phases. It has often pink stains, blue or irregular, brown, white or black marks.
Dimensions: Up to 38 cm in total length.
Geographical Distribution: Eastern Pacific Indo-Pacific
