| Description: | Fish of globular form with modified pectoral fins resembling legs, complete with "feet". The small gill openings are not covered by bony plates, and the first dorsal spine is important to attract prey which it feeds. This thorn, called "illicium" is long. It has three dorsal spines, 13-13 soft dorsal rays and anal soft rays 7. The first dorsal spine is approximately the same length as the second, with a large cluster of filaments. |
