Common Name: Indian frogfish
Description: Fish of globular form with modified pectoral fins resembling legs, complete with "feet". The small gill openings are not covered by bony plates, and the first dorsal spine is important to attract prey which it feeds. This thorn, called "illicium" is long.
Habitat: Occurs at depths between 15 and 29 meters.
Color: Most species are brown to yellowish brown, with darker spots and stains. It has two or three ocelli on the body, one half of the side at the base of a dorsal fin and usually above a base of the anal fin.
Dimensions: Up to 23 inches in total length.
