| Description: | Fish of globular form with modified pectoral fins resembling legs, complete with "feet". The small gill openings are not covered by bony plates, and the first dorsal spine is important to attract prey which it feeds. This thorn, called "illicium" is long. Has 6-7 anal rays, pectoral rays usually 10 to 12 dorsal rays. |
