Common Name: Shortspine boarfish
Description: The body shape varies from oval to diamond shape, but the depth is rarely equal to the length of the fish. The tail fin is rounded. The scales are small and ctenoid. The head and body are reddish pink on the upper part, and the venter is silvery. It has 9 spines in the first dorsal fin and 26-30 soft rays in the second dorsal fin.
Habitat: Bathydemersal, at depths between 115 and 585 meters.
Color: Reddish pink and silvery.
Dimensions: Up to 15 centimeters in lenght.
Geographical Distribution: Western Atlantic
