Common Name: Flamefish
Description: Red to dark red with a round black spot near the rear base of the second dorsal fin and a broad dark band on the caudal peduncle. It usually has a black mark behind the eye. It feeds on planktonic crustaceans, including shrimp larvae and copepods. It is a solitary species.
Habitat: Round and smooth stones, algal beds, mangroves, tidal ponds in reef plains, reef lagoons, faces of reefs, frontal reef slopes and cliffs. It occurs at depths between 1 and 127 meters.
Color: Red to dark red.
Dimensions: Up to 10.5 centimeters.
Geographical Distribution: Western Atlantic
