| Description: | Depressed skeleton. Big and strong thorns. A very big peristome which distinguish it from Paracentrotus lividus. Ambulacral plate from the arbacioid type (longer central thrombocyte, flanked by two smaller ones). |
| Habitat: | Infralittoral, it can also occur on circalittoral. It can form one of the facies of the fotofile algae biofilth together with the crusty corallinaceae algae, sometimes near the surface (Madeira). |
