Common Name: Greater argentine
Description: Silver fish with small mouth and big eyes. The body is lean to robust. The dorsal fin originates above the tip of the pectoral fin. The swim-bladder is silver. It has six branchiostegal rays. It feeds on planktonic invertebrates including amphipods, chaetognaths, squids and ctenophores, and also small fish.
Habitat: Bathydemersal, inhabiting depths between 140 and 1440 meters.
Color: Silver.
Dimensions: Up to 70 centimeters.
Geographical Distribution: Eastern Atlantic
