Common Name: Hookhorn sculpin
Description: Fish with no scales, with 3 soft rays on the pelvic fin. The pre-opercular spine is quite curved, curving upward. It has cirri above the eye and on top of the head; a cirrus on the back of the upper jaw. The first dorsal fin is high in males and lower in females.
Habitat: Demersal. Found in mud and sand bottoms at depths between 15 and 137 meters.
Color: It has three dark broad areas on the dorsum, whitish on the ventral part of the body. The sides and top of the head are dark, with spots or clear wavy lines. The dorsal, caudal and pectoral fins have bands.
Dimensions: Up to 5.7 centimeters in total lenght.
