Common Name: Tube-snout
Description: Elongated fish. The mouth is small placed on the extremity of the snout. The pelvic fin is located below the pectoral fin. The dorsal fin has 24-27 spines and 9-10 soft rays; the anal fin has 1 spine and 9 soft rays. The caudal fin is small and forked. It feeds on small crustaceans and fish larvae.
Habitat: Benthopelagic. Found in beds of kelp, sea grass, rocky areas and over sandy bottoms. It inhabits depths between 0 and 30 meters.
Color: Brownish on the upper body with darker bands; white on the lower body. Silver behind the head; dark band on the head, which often extends through the body.
Dimensions: Up to 18 centimeters in total lenght.
