| Description: | Yellowish-gray with a large black spot of white edges on the back, and blue lines on the bottom side. Adults have a filament that extends from the top of the soft portion of the dorsal fin, and have reddish-orange markings on the caudal peduncle and on the posterior portion of the dorsal fin that are not present in juveniles. |
| Habitat: | Reefs adjacent to the coast, reef lagoons, reef plains, reef ridges, frontal reef slopes at depths between 1 and 30 meters. |
